In the 1860s there were early typewriters invented in Italy, Brazil, Austria, Denmark and the US.
The first commercially sold typewriter seems to be the Hansen Writing Ball, which was sold in Denmark in 1865.
The first typewriter to be commercially successful was invented in 1867 by C. Latham Sholes, Carlos Glidden and Samuel W. Soule in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. The patent was sold to Remington. Remington's first commercial machine appeared in 1873. It was also the first appearance of the QWERTY keyboard.
I'm pretty sure it was invented in Italy...but if I was you I'd check this elsewhere on the web to make sure it's correct.
Thanks

The typewriter was invented by Christopher Latham Sholes, Samuel Soule, and Carlos Glidden in the Victorian era. Their prototype, developed in 1867, paved the way for the modern typewriter design that followed.
In 1867, Christopher Sholes, Carlos Glidden and Samuel Soule invented the first practical mechanical typewriter machine.
The typewriter was not invented by a black man. Christopher Latham Sholes, an American newspaper editor and printer, is credited with inventing the first practical typewriter in 1868.
The printing press was invented before the typewriter. Johannes Gutenberg developed the printing press around 1440, while the typewriter was invented by Christopher Sholes in 1867.
The First Practical typewriter was invented my many Genius inventors but the first commercial successful Typewriter was invented by Christopher in Millwakee , WI , USA . ( Not exactly sure about place , but most of my research gives Millwakee )
Christopher Sholes created the typewriter in 1867.
what typewriter was invented in the 1940?
In Britain in 1714, Henry Mill patented a machine that was very similar to what we know as a typewriter. An Italian named Pellegrino Turri invented a typewriter sometime prior to 1808. In 1829, an American named William Austin Burt patented a machine called the "Typowriter". He is usually called the Father of the typewriter.
the typewriter was invented in 1868 by christopher sholes
Christopher Latham Sholes (1819-1890) invented the typewriter in 1867. Sholes was a U.S. mechanical engineer who invented the first practical modern typewriter, patented in 1868. Sholes invented the typewriter with partners S. W. Soule and G. Glidden, that was manufactured (by Remington Arms Company) in 1873. He was born February 14, 1819 in Mooresburg, Pennsylvania, and died on February 17, 1890 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
A manual typewriter is the typewriter that was used before the Electric Typewriter was invented.
