Perhaps not a foe, but Hamilton had strong enough feelings about Aaron Burr that he fought a duel with him. Hamilton died and the sitting Vice President was disgraced as result of having killed him.

From about 1777 on, he was in nearly every one that Washington was in because in 1777 he became Washington's aide -- late in the war he would lead a siege at Yorktown. Before 1777 he was in several other ones as an artillery captain, among them the battles of Trenton and Princeton.
