Geraldine Ferraro was member of the U.S. House of Representatives from the 9th District in New York who ran for Vice President of the United States on the Democratic Party ticket with running mate Walter Mondale in 1984. They were defeated in a landslide by incumbent President Ronald Reagan and Vice President George H. W. Bush. She later served as United States' ambassador to the United Nations.
