Peter Solis Nery was born on January 6, 1969. He is a poet, fictionist and author from Dumangas, Iloilo, Philippines. He has won major acclaim for his poetry and short stories in his mother tongue, the Hiligaynon, winning such prestigious literary contests as the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, the Cultural Center of the Philippines Literary Grant, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts all-Western Visayas Literary Contest. His screenplays have also won the Philippine Centennial Literary Prize of 1998, the 2001 Cinemanila International Film Festival Scriptwriting Competition, and the Film Development Foundation of the Philippines' Screenwriting Contest. Author of 13 books and erstwhile columnist and editor of Iloilo-based newspapers such as The News Today, The Guardian, and Panay News, Nery briefly appears in Tikoy Aguiluz's film on cybersex, "www.xxx.com". Presently, Nery works as an orthopedics nurse in a Los Angeles, California hospital. He has just finished translation work on his groundbreaking 100 erotic sonnets in the Hiligaynon.
