Thomas Alva Edison (1847 - 1931) is considered by the American society to be one the most successful inventors in history. Edison profoundly influenced modern life through inventions such as the incandescent light bulb, the phonograph, and the motion picture camera. He also patented over 1,000 other items. During his lifetime, he acquired 1,093 patents, and marketed many of his inventions to the public.

Thomas Edison was known for inventing the light bulb, phonograph, and motion pictures.

Actually Thomas Edison is really the first person to create a modern development laboratory, with a large staff working on developing new products and ways to market them. He didn't do that much actual inventing. What he "invented" was not only a light bulb that worked, but a system to wire and power them for commercial use.

Thomas Edison was a very famous inventor who was known for inventing the light bulb. The light bulb wasn't his idea, but he was able to make one that was good enough to sell and to be known to the public. He also invented the phonograph, which was able to record and replay sounds. He invented the kinetoscope, which was able to make simulate movements with many sequential photos that moved across a high speed shutter that was viewed through a peep hole on top of the cabinet that contained all of these things. Those were his most famous inventions. There are many things that are describable about Thomas Edison. He worked A LOT and didn't pay much attention to his family. He was always trying to be better than other inventors like Nicola Tesla who helped improve a lot of his inventions. He started to become slightly deaf throughout his life, which he liked because he could concentrate on his work. Any way, I'd might as well copy and paste the research book that I wrote for my honors class onto this because there is so much information on him.

Thomas Edison was a brilliant inventor. He invented the Phonograph, the Light Bulb and many other things. He was a very poor student at school, and he asked every adult he saw how this and that worked. He was an extremely curious boy. If the adult didn't know the answer to his questions, he would simply stare in to their eyes and ask,"Why?". If you are thinking Thomas Edison invented the light bulb . . . well, he actually didn't. Someone else invented the light bulb and Edison just improved it by making a few changes. He is still famous today. I hope this was helpful!
