From 1969 to 2011, it was under the Dictatorship of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

Today, Libya is now run under a provisional government called the General National Congress, whose head is the nominal chief executive. As of June 25, 2013, this was Nouri Abusahmain.

The prime minister of Libya (since 2012) is Ali Zeidan.

Unless I've missed something, Gaddafi is still in power. This is the third question like this in an hour. Google News shows no significant change in the last 24 hours, so, I'm either horribly out of touch, or there are a lot of people who believe a successful revolution and regime change has taken place in Libya.
