Well, Im not sure but I'll say yes. It depends where the Wal-marts are located . If you are talking about California Wal-Marts, maybe there are different owners but if you are talking about different places, well im not sure!!

Not all franchise ownerships may be local however. They can be investors and/or developers from elsewhere capitalizing in a geographic region.
If your talking about the buildings themselves, Walmart itself owns about 75% of all the buildings they use. The rest are rented. If your talking about the Company itself, every single associate has the opportunity to become a shareholder, and thus an owner.

∙ 10y agoWalMart is a publicly traded company, although Sam Walton did first open WalMart in 1962 , P&G Corporation became it's total owner in 2006 after the Walton family sold out to a private owner in 2009 ,as of 2014 Target acquired 51% of the total stocks of WalMart stores Inc. therefor putting the CEO of Target as it's Chair...the associates and outside holders constitute 20% ,leaving the company at 29%...I know this for a fact and currently monitor all stock activities to do with walmart.
