Who is Alfred Matthew "Weird Al" Yankovic born October 23, 1959) is a Grammy Award winning American singer, musician, actor, satirist, parodist, songwriter, music producer, accordionist, and television producer. Yankovic is known in particular for his humorous songs that make light of popular culture and that often parody specific songs by contemporary musical acts. Yankovic received his first Accordion lesson a day before his seventh birthday? What is this Jepordy? Weird Al Yankovic is a pure genius. He has written hundreds of parodies of very popular songs so well, that he hardly ever gets denied rights to work with other artists material. There was a mix up with rapper Culio when Weird Al wanted to parody "Gangster's Paradise" into his own version with the title of "Amish Paradise" which lead to a court date for accusations of stealing material, but in the end it all worked out, as you can find the song today on one of his previous albums. He is very funny and family oriented. This pretty much sums him up in a nutshell. Who is he? ∙ 12y agoRick Derringer played most of the guitar parts on Weird Al's first album, which was self-titled "Weird Al Yankovic." Since then, there have occasionally been guest Guitarists such as Mark Knopfler and Dweezil Zappa, but for more than 30 years, Weird Al's regular band guitarist, both on records and in live performances, has been Jim "Kimo" West. He can play any style of guitar that Al needs him to play, and also plays other instruments such as banjo, but the music he enjoys composing and performing when he's not working with Al is Hawaiian "slack key" guitar. His nickname "Kimo" means "Jim" in Hawaiian, and it was given to him by his musician friends in Hawaii.
