Typically, the responsibility of changing a soiled special needs child in school falls upon the trained and designated personnel such as nurses, aides, or personal care assistants who are part of the child's Individualized Education Program (IEP) team. It is important to establish clear communication and coordination between the child's parents, school staff, and healthcare professionals to ensure the child's needs are met appropriately.

I'm a little bit of an expert in this field as my 8year old is disabled and wears a nappy through school. Basically, teaching and non teaching staff have a right to refuse to do this task. As good practice, the school should ask for members of staff to make themselves known if they are willing to do it. The first port of call would be to any existing special needs assistants within the school already. If there are still no willing participants, the school may look to YOU to provide the interpersonal care. This is something I had to do for months. I then did a parental request for a statement of special educational needs for my son, and got it. So now, with the finance off the statement, my son has a 1 to 1 assistant to take care of his bowel needs, as well as support him in the classroom and with his learning.
