This kind of question only ever causes contention and confusion.

There are at least two major qualifiers to be asked of your question:

a) Best music director for what style or genre? Opera, Musicals, Film, Theatre, Orchestral Music, Gospel, Georgian Folk Music? All require different skills and have different industry leaders.

b) How is 'best' qualified? Highest income? Most awards? Most records sold?

Having said that - one of the world's leading conductorsin the classical world is Sir Simon Rattle, who is the chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic.

well it depends on the person people like different music so they will each have a different answer just think who you think is the best music composer.

Wow! This is an interesting but really impossible question. In the classical world, there are many contenders. Some would argue that Bach was the greatest composer who ever drew breath. There would be supporters for Mozart. I have a very special love for Beethoven, and some may consider him the master. Each of these has made unsurpassed contributions to music of one kind or another.

In terms of modern times, it is hard for me to say. I think it would only be right to look at eras or genres, and select some of the best from each.

The bottom line is that there is no dispute in matters of taste. As said by the contributor above, the best composer is the one whose music touches me (or you) most deeply.
It also can depend on what instrument you play. My father plays piano and organ, so therefore he likes Bach the most becuase he wrote really good pieces for piano and organ SOLO! I play Cello, and piano. Although Bach wrote good piano concertos, i believe that Beethoven wrote better ones. But I have thought that Beethoven was number one before I played Cello, but playing it caused me to think, "What would we do without Beethoven?"

So I am basically saying that I think Beethoven is the best. <dasd282>

This is not an easy question.

At a certain level, you cannot go any further or beyond. This is what 3 people reached in India. Rafi, Kishore and Lata. So these 3 are incomparable with each other.

Sonu Nigam had the potential of reaching it too. But since 2002 he stopped singing on scale. He started singing from his nose instead of his gut. Which is safer and saves a lot of energy.

Nowadays there is again an ´incomparable´ series of singers. The absolute top singers are:

Kailash Kher, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Goshal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Richa Sharma, Lata Mangeshkar, Udit Narayan, Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Rahat fateh ali khan, Himesh Reshammiya, Krishna Kunnath Kumar (KK) and maybe i forgot 1 or 2 but not more than that (Shaan and Kumar Sanu not).
