It isn't really possible to answer this as there isn't a simple way of measuring "smartness". For example, is Shakespeare smarter than Einstein? Darwin smarter than Mozart?

The highest IQ score recorded was 228 by Marilyn Vos Savant (at age 10). However, high IQs are notoriously difficult to measure meaningfully. Additionally, it is difficult to say what "smart" is. Stephen Hawking is smart. Is he smarter than Edward Witten? (Edward Witten is a mathematical physicist, and he has shouldered aside mathematicians to win awards in mathematics.)

A little correction on the Highest IQ ever. Mariyln von Savant did record the highest IQ ever, but it was at age 10. When coverted to adult IQ, it is only 185. This puts her 25 points behind Kim Ung-Yong, with 210, who got his IQ as an adult.

There is no known way to absolutely quantify intelligence.

If by 'guys' you're limiting it to males, the smartest we know of were Albert Einstein and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, both of whom had an IQ of around 210.

If you include women, that would be Marilyn vos Savant, who was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records with an IQ of 230.

Of course, the universe is a pretty big place; there might be an entire alien civilization or two that puts us mere apes to shame.
