William B. Travis was a leader during the Battle of the Alamo in Texas. He was not taken seriously until he was the only man to pick up an unexploded cannonball. He asked Sam Houston numerous times for reinforcements, but never got them. He was killed during the battle by one of Santa Anna's men.
