Who makes Toyota synthetic oil?

First, there is the chemistry of how the blend is formulated. Then there is the manufacturinig process, a very non-trivial step. The additives are no small matter, either, as this can have a profound effect on oxidation and stability of the oil at temerature, and with moisture effects, and with shear experienced with some high-RPM engines. One advantage of a good synthetic oil like Mobil 1, is that the change internvals can be pushed out signficiantly. It is not uncommon to run 10,000 miles between changes: some, like Mobil extended performance will easily push out to 15,000. Since the inclination is to extend the change interval to save money, you want the best oil you can put in your engine. As to who makes Toyota's synthetic oil, according to two independent Toyota dealers, at the moment it is Exxon Mobil. You can be sure that Toyota is going to do their due diligence in making sure whoever provides their oil has a quality product.
