The Werker label on SLI batteries is sold at Batteries Plus and made by East Penn.
That is NOT correct! Werker is a Batteries Plus privately owned brand name. Werker labeled batteries can be made by anyone that Batteries Plus has entered into a private label agreement with. When going to their store it is likely that their Werker batteries are made by 12 plus people. In the SLI automotive batteries they use Exide as their primary, they do have an agreement with East Penn as well and several other Mexican battery manufacturers. Problem with a Batteries Plus is you don't know what you're buying but it is likely you are buying whatever they could get the cheapest the day they needed batteries.
The manufacturer of the Batteries Plus branded SLI battery depends on where the store is located. My local store orders directly from Exide Batteries Corp. and East Penn. Corp. From my past experiences working for an auto parts store East Penn has one of the best automotive offerings on all batteries while Exide has a lot less. I sold East Penn for years and was very familiar with their products and how they worked. Also keep in mind most Battery Plus stores are franchises not corporately owned.

Are Werker batteries sold by Batteries Plus good batteries?
Absolutely, the werker battery is an exceptional brand of battery. I use werker batteries in a variety of my projects, which include back up power systems, portable 12 volt cigarette power supply, power source for an emergency lighting system, used in a slightly modified power wheels as a longer lasting battery. and the list could go on. The batteries are dependable and can withstand great amounts of vibration and sudden shock as I observed when using a 5 ah agm werker battery to power my mountain bike's custom built 20 watt halogen headlight system. I crashed the bike several times, end over end crashes in some cases, and travelled regularly over very bumpy uneven terrain, and the battery has withstood all the abuse better than either the bike or myself, and showed no signs of damage. They also store for long periods of time with little passive discharge. I put the same 5 ah agm battery, fully charged, away for about 3 months. It was not properly stored either, I placed it on the railing on my back porch and even after being exposed to months of weather and temperature changes, the battery retained the vast majority of it's charge and was undamaged by the experience. The cost of a werker battery is also much lower than other agm batteries of the same size. I would definitely say that werker batteries are excellent choices for any number of applications where reliable power is called for.
