The AutoCraft battery brand name is owned by Advance Auto Parts (AAP), but AAP does not manufacture batteries. There is no large plant somewhere owned by AAP making them. The plants exist but are independent battery manufacturers, including GNB (formally Gould National Battery), and Johnson Controls Inc. But other more localized and smaller manufacturers also contribute to the demand created by AAP's 3200+ retail locations. Most of these smaller entities are under non-competition and/or dedicated clauses and/or contracts. All of these suppliers warranty their battery products to AAP, who then warranties them to their customers. The same corporate model is used by Sears, Walmart (& Sam's Club), Auto Zone, and many, many other retailers. There are even more manufacturers of battery makers than there are retailers. Many of them even distribute their products under their own, or affiliate brand names. And many have various contracts across even competing brands in various regions for even more varying reasons. It's really two non-competing industries (battery manufacturing, and battery selling) working together to co-exist and co-profit by fulfilling each others needs.
