No one (or almost no one) offers formal free sign language classes in LA. it takes significant time and effort to do so.
But you can probably find a Deaf person that can informally teach you for free, if you're willing to communicate and reciprocate to them, through many channels, some of which include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Deaf schools * Mainstreaming schools * Friends * Deaf get-togethers The Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness (GLAD) offers a 10-week non-credit course in American Sign Language at various times throughout the year. Class fee is $50.00 and information can be found at http://www.gladinc.org/. There's also a large number of community colleges in the Los Angeles area which offer classes (at a fee) for American Sign Language, such as the College of the Canyons and Los Angeles Pierce College.
Many schools in the Los Angeles area offer sign language courses. Pierce Community College has beginning ASL courses as well as an extensive Sign Language Interpreter program. College of the Canyons offers ASL courses as well. The Greater Los Angeles Agency of the Deaf (GLAD) provides a basic course in ASL for several Saturdays at a cost of $50.00.
The Pittson Area Primary Center at 210 Rock St. offers ESL classes.
Lululemon Athletica regularly offers free workout classes on the weekend. The YMCA in Miami also offers free classes several times a month. There are also free outdoor yoga classes held at Tina Hills Pavilion several times a week.
