Nobody. She left the team by the end of season 6 and was back with the team by season 7 Meanwhile Sean and Pauley (their characters) get married and have a kid. This kid turns out to be a whiz kid and helps dad and mom with cases from his home office(cute little bugger) at the age of three by applying a specially developed code unknown to CIA, FBI, Moussad, or KGB. This causes a stir in the government and Gibbs and team without the help of McGee or Abby have to track down the three year old and arrest same before he accidentally and innocently betrays his parents and his country because his secret ability of being able to hear his parents thoughts when he's napping makes him a spy worth kidnapping by everyone but CIA. The kid's name, Timmy (after his father) decides to hide out in Oklahoma City in the rebuilt children's daycare center. Abby knows where he is but Tim (his dad) is mum. Tim issued little Tim a special I Phone with secure line so he can press all the app buttons and send code from wherever he is to help Dad solve the cases he's assigned. All the cases except the most important one. Diva David (Cote) has to come back to rescue Tim and Abby because Moussed has put out a contract on them parents) unless they surrender their kid to the allies and not to KGB. Gibbs has a breakdown over the situation and the Director retires and hires DiNozzo away leaving Husband and wife to run the outfit for awhile. When the Senate finds out about that, they seek to break up the husband and wife team but Abby changes locations in the D.C. business metropolis in order to allow Tim(the father) the run of the NCIS unit.

Tobias becomes NCIS' director which means Tim has more fun working for an old friend of Gibbs.

After this, someone else adds to this story to cement the connection so Cote can come back in a positive way to the Unit.
