The singer was Gregg Rolie, who also played keyboards. He was with Santana from 1966 to 1971. He left Santana due to creative differences. Gregg was one of the founding members of Journey with Neal Schon, Aynsley Dunbar, George Tickner, and Ross Valory in 1973. Neal Schon was formerly a guitarist with Santana.

Black Magic Woman was NOT first "perfomed" (whatever that is...) by Santana. It was written by Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac, and first performed by the group, release as a single in 1968, two years before Santana's version.

Santana Actually the song was written by Peter Green and was first released by Fleetwood Mac. The more popular arrangement by Santana came out two years later.
