The Puritans and the Presbyterians at one time banned Christmas celebrations. To this day the Jehovah Witnesses do not celebrate the holy day.

Me I banned it out of my life when I found out that Yehoshua was born at tax time but the birth of Baal was dec 25 and has been celebrated since ancient Babylon long before Yehoshua was born and It says in The Bible not to do the exact ritual of cutting trees and bringing them into your house to decorate. It tells you not to do what the nations do.

Is Christmas about presents or Jesus' birth?

Christmas stands for Christ mass coming from the early Catholic church. The original celebration was of pagan origins going back long before Christ. You can find ancient carvings that include "Christmas" trees. When pagan Rome started to become Christianized the people had a hard tinge giving up all of their traditions that they enjoyed so they tried to turn around the meanings of their their traditions and make it Christian. Jesus was not born Dec. 25, it is noted likely that the conception was very close to this time based on time frames given inLuke. Early protestants did not celebrate Christmas, in fact, it was illegal. Eventually it became accepted and they used symbolism to represent the birth of Christ such as the star representing the star if Bethlehem and the gifts representing the gifts brought by the magi. Some even say the evergreen represents everlasting life in Christ. Many Christians now are choosing not to celebrate Christmas because if the pagan origins while others are offended at not celebrating. Christmas really became popular in America because of Coca- Cola.

What do eggs and rabbits repesent for?

There are a few theories about why a rabbit laying eggs is the symbol for Easter. The rabbit: Easter actually began as a pagan festival, celebrating the return of spring by honoring their goddess of offspring and springtime, Eastre. Eastre's symbol was the rabbit, because rabbits and hares were the most fertile creature known. When the early Christian missionaries encountered the pagan people (Saxons), they tried to convert them, but kept the tradition of Eastre and transformed it into basically what Easter is about today. The egg represented rebirth and was introduced after the pagan/Saxons. The reason Christians celebrate Easter is because it is the "rebirth of Christ, Jesus".
