A:The Book of Daniel tells us that Daniel was taken as a young man from Jerusalem to Babylon. Daniel had the ability to interpret dreams and wall-writing, and became the second most important person in the entire Babylonian Empire, and then in the Persian Empire that succeeded it some sixty years after he left Jerusalem as a young boy.

Scholars have long pointed out historical errors in the Book of Daniel, and Leonard J Greenspoon (The Oxford History of the Biblical World, Between Alexandria and Antioch: Jews and Judaism in the Hellenistic Period) describes the book as a Jewish novel. There is no mention in the Babylonian or Persian records of a Jew who rose to high rank, and Daniel is otherwise unknown so must therefore be regarded as simply a character in the Book of Daniel.

A:

The Book of Daniel begins with Daniel as a young child and ends when he must have been an extremely old man. Beyond that we can say nothing about his appearance, other than that he was a Jew and therefore brown-skinned and of Middle Eastern appearance. Although it has become part of scripture, the Book of Daniel is considered to have been a novel written some four hundred years after the time in which it was set.

A:The Book of Daniel describes Daniel being taken as a young child from Jerusalem to Babylonia, where he was treated well and provided an education. HE was a recognised interpreter of dreams and in time became the second most powerful person in the Babylonian Empire. After Persia defeated Babylon, Daniel once again became the second most powerful person in the empire, in spite of his previous involvement. Betrayed for following Judaism against the edict of the king, Daniel was placed in a den of lions, but survived untouched.

The book does not describe Daniel's final years, although he must have been an extremely old man as the book ends. No other reliable source is available, as scholars consider the Book of Daniel to be a novel written in the second century BCE about the period of the Babylonian Exile.

Daniel was a great man of God who lived in the time of Babylon and king Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel served God faithfully, and was cast into a den of lions because of it. But God protected Daniel because of Daniel's faithfullness. God also gave a number of visions to Daniel to show us what would happen in the world and what kingdoms would rule the world.
