Best Answer

French novelist, playwright, existentialist philosopher, and literary critic. Sartre was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1964, which he refused.

He added to many famous philosophical ideas during his time. These were Metaphysics, Epistemology, Ethics, Politics, Phenomenology, Ontology.

Satre had written many books and one of his famous was La Nausée (Nausea), which examined the problems of freedom where one was overwhelmed with the burden of having to be responsible for their existence. The book lead to the saying "Condemned to be free".

Another worthy book written by Satre was Being and Nothingness, which can be a difficult read and looks at the definition of consciousness and the strength to admit one has to be responsible for their actions in order to avoid bad faith, where in one relies on others to make the decisions for their own freedom.
