Best Answer

He was one of the designers of the Lifeboat emergency systems on board the RMS Titanic. He was given a place on board to assist in any problems that arise during the voyage. He and Thomas Andrews, the Chief Designer, worked tightly together to keep the ship safe, but when the ship struck the iceberg, neither Chisholm nor Andrews could save it; all they could do was delay it. It was Chisholm's design that saved many lives because of the speed of releasing the boats. Unfortunately he was lost in the sinking and his body was never found.
