Roger Williams was trained as a minister in England and became a separatist. He came to Massachusetts but felt that the church there did not separate enough from the Church of England. He did not like the treatment of Native Americans and complained that the King of England did not have the right to take Native American lands. He was forced out of Massachusetts and started the colony of Rhode Island.
