The Nez Perce Indian Chief who fought and resisted the US government
reservation system in a failed attempt to return his people to their home
in Idaho. He died in 1905 after making futile appeals for 20 years to the
Congress and the White House. His story was closely followed by the
press of the time and his ability to avoid and evade the Cavalry led to his
being called the "Red Napoleon".
