Margaret Whiting was a famed British stage actress. Not much information is known about her, unfortunately. She was a regular actress in the London West End Theatre scene and was affiliated to RADA.

She appeared as Nerissa in a 1958 Notting Hill production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', and also appeared in the controversial '59 film 'Beat Girl' which also starred Christopher Lee, Adam Faith and a young Oliver Reed (the film is still only screened nowadays at late hours, due to a controversial night club sex-dance scene).

She was also in the 1963 crime thriller 'The Informers' in which she played gangster's moll Maisie Barton and which also starred Nigel Patrick, Derren Nesbitt and Roy Kinnear, and in the little-known '64 film 'Saturday Night Out'. Her main forte was in character roles as prostitutes, night-club 'madames' and gangster's girlfriends. Her acting career tended to become obscure from the 1970s onwards, although she may well have appeared in 'Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger' and I was informed by the British Film Institute in 1990 that she was 'still very busy as an actress'. I did try writing to her agents to ask for her autograph, but got no reply- I think she is known for being quite reclusive, possibly due to embarrasment at some of the roles she played in earlier decades.

There's no reason to suppose that she is not still alive as of 2013, as she would only be in her 70s and her obituary would certainly have been reproduced on the internet. She is not to be confused with Margaret Whiting the American singer, who died in April 2011 at the age of 79.
