The first actress to win back to back Oscars in Luise Rainer. She won her only two Oscars, as Best Actress for The Great Ziegfeld (1936) and The Good Earth (1937). By the way: she was born in 1910, and she's still alive. The only other actress to win back to back Oscars is Katharine Hepburn. Between her first and fourth wins as Best Actress, she won the Best Actress award for Guess Who's Coming for Dinner (1967) and the following year for A Lion in Winter (1968).

Emmys and Oscars are perhaps the two most prestigious awards in the entertainment industry, if there are very few people who had managed to win one of them, it's even more unlikely to find someone who had won more than one, even more difficult, someone who had won them in the same year. This is the case of actress Helen Hunt, who managed to win both, an Emmy for her role in the TV series 'Mad About You', and an Oscar for her role in the film 'As Good As It Gets' in the year 1998.

Only two performers have ever won the Best Supporting Actress award twice -- Shelley Winters and Dianne Wiest -- but their wins came years apart.
