Could you please be more specific? If you are asking from a biblical perspective, Abel, son of Adam and Eve, was the first person to die, killed by his brother, Cain.

If you mean in terms of war, you will need to specify which war. I note your question is in the categories of the US Civil War and World War I.

As most people believe it, the first people to live and die were Adam and Eve, but of course, other people have different beliefs.

Answer:

The first person to die was Abel.

Answer:

A problem is that "person" is poorly defined. If you consider that "Lucy" the australopithicas afarensis discovered in the northern Rift Valley of East Africa to be a "person", the first evidence of death of this nature (involving a "person") occurred some 4 to 2.7 million years ago. More recently (so to speak) human hair has been found in 200,000 year old hyena scat in Africa - it is presumed that sometime around the time of being eaten the person died.

Answer:

That's the biblical answer; the scientific answer is that no-one knows (a) because you first have to define "person" and (b) because there may yet be further discoveries of hominid remains even older than those currently known.
