There are Inspectors General, Attorney Generals and four different levels of Military Generals starting with Brigadier General (One Star), Major General (Two Stars), Lieutenant General (Three Stars) and General (with Four Stars).
There have been many. Coincidentally on 23 July 2008, Lieutenant General Ann E. Dunwoody was confirmed by the US Senate for promotion from Lieutenant General to General, and became the first female four-star General in the history of the US Army, and is currently the commanding General of US Army Materiel Command, Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. The first female General Officer in the US Army was Anna Mae Hays, promoted on 11 June, 1970. That same year Elizabeth P. Hoisington was also promoted to General Officer. Both reached the rank of Brigadier General.
The four categories of support are general, mutual, direct, and close.

If you are asking about the "display" of stars signifying a General Officer of the US military, they are arranged on the epaulet of the uniform in linear order for one through four stars. If a five star General of the Army, the stars are arranged in a circle.
True
The Bell P59 Airacomet was the first Jet-powered aircraft in our military, and it served the Army Air Forces and the Navy (which was unusual, given their competition with each other). It was powered by two General Electric J31-GE-5 turbojets, which was the first working jet engine produced in the United States. General Electric had four facilities in the US, and the engines were mass-produced in all four. I hope this helped!
