It was Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson of the Dallas Cowboys, as far as my memory serves me. As I watched it on CBS (called by Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshier), I remember thinking it was the first time I had ever seen it. Here's how and when it happened: In Dallas' NFC Championship game victory on Jan 7, 1979 over my beloved LA Rams, Henderson closed out a 28-0 win with 1:19 left in the game by intercepting a Vince Ferragamo pass and returning it 68-yards for the final touchdown. Henderson then proceeded to celebrate by slam-dunking the football over the goal post deep in the end zone at the LA Colisem. Dallas went on to lose 35-31 to the juggernaut called the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XIII at the Orange Bowl in Miami. That loss is remembered by Cowboy fans mostly for a dropped pass in the end zone by tight end Jackie Smith late in the game which would have changed the outcome of the game. As for the Rams, they would finally reach the Super Bowl the following year at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, only to lose to the Steelers as well, 31-19.

Who was the first to dunk a basketball?

While it remains unclear as to who was the initial player to breakout the "dunk" it has now evolved as a huge part of the game. The dunk is certainly a crowd favorite with Slam Dunk Showdown's and contests and is constantly being remodeled and becoming more creative over the years. According to the related Sports Illustrated link, "Not even the staff at the Basketball Hall of Fame is sure who made the first dunk in organized play. What is known is that the shot has been around nearly as long as the game itself (that means since the 1890's) and that in the 1940's Oklahoma A&M's 6'10" center Bob Kurland became the first college player to regularly use the dunk." For more information, see the related link.

What is the curved line on the floor under the basketball net used for?

it is a restricted area that defenders are not allowed to stand in to take a charge (or offensive foul). They are permitted to stand in the area, but if an offensive player charges into them or knocks them over it will be their fault (because they are standing under the basket, and the offensive player has the right to land on the floor after a layup/dunk/shot).

First black player to play football for usc?

That stat is probably unknown, but USC's first All American football player was a black man, Brice Taylor. Made even more remarkable by the fact that Brice was also disabled, he was born without a left hand. This was in 1925, over 40 years before college football was completely integrated. http://www.tributetotroy.com/wiki/index.php?title=Brice_Taylor

When the whole ball crosses over the goal line and between the goal post?

If it does so above the crossbar and the last player to touch it was an attacker, then it's a goal kick. If it does so above the crossbar and the last player to touch it was a defender, then it's a corner kick. If it does so below the crossbar and it came directly from the defender's goal kick, corner kick, kickoff, or throw-in, it will be no-goal and a corner kick for the attackers If it does so below the crossbar and none of the above apply, a goal should be awarded and the restart is a kick-off for the defenders.
