I happen to play the Saxophone, so I'll try to cover it in general. It depends on what style you're talking about. If you want speed, go for Micheal Brecker, Charlie Parker For style, LeRoi Moore or Sonny Rollins. Top 2 personal best? Charlie Parker and Micheal Brecker. Here's a link to Micheal Brecker's solo in Purple Lagoon. http://video.aol.com/video-detail/michael-brecker-solo-on-purple-lagoon/1822329900

The answer depends on your musical taste.

Jazz fans might choose "I Remember Clifford," a gorgeous Ballad written by Benny Golson to memorialize the late Clifford Brown, a Trumpet prodigy killed in an auto crash in the 1950s.

Those who prefer Classical Music might choose something like "Prayer of St. Gregory," a haunting melody by Alan Hovhaness.

Music lovers who fancy British brass bands might select Debussy's beautiful "The Girl With the Flaxen Hair."

But those are only three of literally thousands of beautiful melodies that trumpet and cornet players love to play and listeners love to hear.

Try "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty. It was covered by the Foo Fighters. It is often labeled as "Yacht Rock". Also try Groovin' Hard by Buddy Rich.
