Saint Nicolas, Bishop of Myra was the man who the story of Santa Claus is based on.
This (above) answer is cetainly true in the literal sense...
However, Santa Claus also goes by his other name, "Father Christmas"
If we were to consider the question in this light, it could also be said that the real Father Christmas gave us ALL His Son, Jesus, in that little town we call Bethlehem, on that night we call Christmas - to save ALL Mankind and to redeem us all from the dead unto everlasting life.
So maybe the real Santa Claus was not God, our Eternal Father, but certainly, He is the original Father Christmas, who gave inspiration and origin to the idea the Bishop of Myra set in motion in the 3rd Century AD.
