This was probably something akin to Hemophilia, which is rare in women. There are a lot of passages dealing with Blood ( quite apart from the Blood Sacrifice of Christ) and this has nothing to do with transfusions ( unknown in Biblical times) but probably was either a reference to some primitive ( and unsanitary) tribal rite involving human blood,or a proscription on Race mixing, after all they will talk of dogs or horses having Mixed blood in everyday speech. That is my guess. the Jehovah"s witnesses attitude and doctrine on Blood transfusions is moronic and naive and ignores the ( spirit of the times, and the law) as well as basic scientific advancement. A prominent Black doctor, Charles Drew, was pre-eminent in the whole technique of Blood transfusions and indeed selling the idea of ( Blood Banks) to the public. The first such bank opened in Chicago in l937- It caught on in a flash!- pun intended, the Electra project occured also in that year! Charged Batteries, All that your Heart can hold!

The Bible does not mention her name.

(Matthew 9:20-22) ". . .And, look! a womansuffering twelve years from a flow of blood came up behind and touched the fringe of his outer garment; for she kept saying to herself: "If I only touch his outer garment I shall get well." Jesus turned around and, noticing her, said: "Take courage, daughter; your faith has made you well." And from that hour the woman became well."

(Mark 5:25-34) "Now there was a woman subject to a flow of blood twelve years, ...she kept saying: "If I touch just his outer garments I shall get well." ... the woman, frightened and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. He said to her: "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be in good health from your grievous sickness."

(Luke 8:42-48)" . . . a woman, subject to a flow of blood for twelve years, who had not been able to get a cure from anyone, approached from behind and touched the fringe of his outer garment, and instantly her flow of blood stopped. ...Seeing that she had not escaped notice, the woman came trembling and fell down before him and disclosed before all the people the cause for which she touched him and how she was healed instantly. But he said to her: "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go your way in peace."

She was from Galilee. The woman with the "issue of blood" can be found in Matthew 9:20, Mark 5:25 and Luke 8:43. Mark 5:1 mentions the country of the Gadarenes. Matthew 9:1 mentions Jesus came into his own city and Luke 8:26 says " and they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee."

The Bible doesn't tell us where this woman lived, however it is believed she was from Galilee.

In Mark 5:1 we read the story of Jesus healing a demon-possessed man in a place called Gadara. To reach Gadara, Jesus and His disciples had to cross the Sea (of Galilee) to the "other" side. Gadara was on the southeastern side of the Sea therefore we know that Jesus had departed to Gadara from the western side which is Galilee.

In verse 21, it states that Jesus crossed over again by boat to the other side, back to Galilee where a great crowd was waiting for Him. It was here in Galilee that the woman with the issue of blood reached into the crowd and touched the hem of Jesus garment.

So we can state with almost certainty she was an native (resident) of Galilee.
