Difficult to define who is the "worst" per se... Are you looking for body count? Or, are you going for style points? Or, just overall shock value? Here's my shortlist of America's "top" ranked serial killers 1. Richard Speck 2. Ed Gein 3. John Wayne Gacey 4. Richard Ramirez (The Nightstalker) 5. Ted Bundy 6. Jeff Dahmer 7. David Berkowitz (Son of Sam) (Dangerous but the most dumb of all) 8. Gary Leon Ridgway (Green River Killer) 9. Henry Lee Lucas & Otis Toole (duo w/over 200 kills) 10. Pee Wee Gaskins Alternate pick - Richard "Iceman" Kuklinski Alternate #2 - H.H. Holmes (1895) his estimated tally ranges between 27 and 230

It would depend on your definition of 'worst'. Number of kills, or the most gruesome kills, ect. The Green River Killer Gary Ridgeway confessed to over 50 victims. HH Holmes is right up there also. Charles Manson and his 'family' committed horrendous murders where the victims were stabbed literally dozens of times, some postmortem. Jeffrey Dahmer's crimes were unbelievably brutal and cruel. Dahmer drilled a hole into a victim's skull and injected caustic chemicals into the brain hoping to make a zombie out of him. Ted Bundy was probably the most famous, in part because Bundy just did not look like a killer. Handsome, bright and charming Bundy taught us that a killer like him can look and act completely normal yet it is all a facade.
Charles Cullin killed a confirmed 40 patients as a nurse.

Ted Bundy comes in second with 35 confirmed kills.

I am not counting confessions. ---------- first of all even if you are counting total kills your already wrong. The Green River Killer ,Gary Ridgway, had a confirmed 48 kills. Cullen was the most prolific serial killer in New Jersey history. the most prolific serial killer in the history of the united states was Dr. H. H. Holmes. he built Chicago's "Murder Castle". they are not sure how many people he killed, but the highest estimate has been 230. no one can know for sure. for further information - http:/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._H._Holmes

Depending on what qualifies for dangerous, (number of victims, brutality of the murders, choice of victims) these are the most imfamous serial killers in history:

Countess Erszebet Bathory, at least 600 victims. Jack The Ripper, 7 to 13 victims, Jeffrey Dahmer, 17 victims, Ted Bundy, at least 30 victims, John Wayne Gacy, 33 victims. Harold Shipman, estimated victim count over 200. Randy Kraft, estimated 67 victims. Gary Leon Ridgeway, at least 63 victims, many more suspected. Andrei Chikatilo, over 50 victims. Kenneth Bianci and Angelo Buono (Hillside Stranglers). Honorable mention:Danny Rollin, 7 victims.

These killers were chosen not only for body count but for the brutality they inflicted onto their victims.

Why are serial killers killers?

Well, that's a good question. Why does anyone kill? There are plenty of theories, but barely any of them cover the motives of convicted serial killers. There are many theories as to why serial killers do what they do (avatism, lust, insanity, etc) but nothing can give us a complete and straight answer.

How many serial killers are on the loose in norcross goergia?

There has recently been a suspected serial killer that has killed a young woman in Georgia and another in Florida. But it wasn't Norcross. The last info that I have found they were still tying the two together based on similar MO's. Many times with serial killers the public may know very little until a suspect has been caught. The FBI estimates that at any given time there could be 50 to 100 serial killers 'working' in the US. Since the US has the whopping majority of serial killers, %86 give or take, that gives us an idea about other country's killers.

What is the percentage of female killers in America?

We only have 86 female killers from the US. Is a rare thing when a female serial killer comes up. Female serial killers tend to murder men for material gain. The an analysis of the 86 female serial killers from the U.S., tells us that the victims tended to be spouses, children or the elderly. The prefered method for killing is poison but this is not the only method. Shootings (used by 20%), suffocation (16%), stabbing (11%), and drowning (5%) were used by female serial killers. Aileen Wuornos is a totally different female serial killer. She killed strangers instead of friends or family away from home.

What percentage of serial killers are white?

With so many serial killers not identified, there can not be statistics showing the population of the world's serial killer. 76% of the world's serial killers are in America is a statistic based ongoing studies. How many cities are believed to have serial killers?

Because of the way a lot of serial killers work it is almost impossible to tell which cities have killers or not. These types of killers move around so much. Different cities, along major freeways and highways, dumping bodies far from where they were taken from. And prostitutes are a popular target for serial killers. Prostitutes are notorious for moving around also. They go from city to city sometimes. Some will be missing for months before anyone gets worried, and files a missing person's report with police. It must be emphasized that serial killers can pop up anywhere. In small towns, (although its harder to hide anything in a small community), big cities, ect. Although the US has a large percentage of these killers, they are not confined to any one country or area. Additional fact:The FBI estimates that there could be up to 100 serial killers at work in the US at any given time.

What is the cooling off period between murders of serial killers?

A serial killer is a person who kills a number of people with a cooling off period between each murder(usually one murder at one given time, but two murders at one time occasionally happens) and these murders may go on for a period of months or years until the killer is caught. Throughout the last three decades the US serial killer rate has risen 940% and it is estimated that by the next millennium it will claim an average of 11 lives a day. Serial Murder is an epidemic, there are at least 35 serial killers active in the USA today who claim one third of the annual murder rate. How many active serial killers in the us?

It is impossible to get a number of active serial killers from any time; due, in part, to the belief that a murder is simply a murder, not a serial killing. Also, it is impossible to know how many serial killers have never been caught, also due to the aforementioned reason.
