The above answer is completely wrong! Taking the TV part, this was certainly NOT the first TV broadcast, as that happened in 30 September 1929. Princess Elizabeth as she was only three years old in 1929 was not married then! Secondly, whilst some British people did attend the Coronation, it was mainly overseas royalty, peers of the British Realm, Heads of the Commonwealth and Heads of other States and Nations.
