Tudor monarchs each ruled absolutely, and individually made their marks on British history. The most famous Tudor was Henry VIII, father of Elizabeth I, and the King who had many of his six wives beheaded. He ended up breaking away from the Roman Catholic church, and ended up creating the Church of England.

They were an English noble family, related to and allied with the Lancasters during the Wars of the Roses. After defeating and killing Richard III at the battle of Bosworth Field, Henry Tudor became King Henry VII and established the Tudor dynasty. His son Henry and his grandchildren Edward, Mary, and Elizabeth all ascended the throne.

Elizabeth I was the last Tudor sovereign, and was succeeded by her second cousin, King James VI of Scotland, son of Elizabeth's longtime rival Mary Queen of Scots.

King Henry VIII - Born 28 June 1491, became Monarch 21 April 1509, Died 28 January 1547, ruled 37 years, 282 days

*Lady Jane Grey - Born 1536/1537, ruled from 10 July to 19 July 1553, Died 12 February 1554, ruled 9 days. (granddaughter of Henry VII through his daughter Mary.)

Queen Mary I - Born 18 February 1516, became Monarch 19 July 1553, Died 17 November 1558, ruled 5 years, 121 days

Queen Elizabeth I - Born 7 September 1533, became Monarch 17 November 1558, Died 24 March 1603, ruled 44 years, 127 days.

Elizabeth I was a widely revered Queen and had two major and well known accomplishments during her reign. Elizabeth I ended religious strife during her reign by reestablishing the Protestant religion and being lenient to other religions. Elizabeth also defeated and sunk the Spanish Armada in 1588 CE.
