The first chocolate maker in Europe was Cadbury. They were boxing chocolate candies in 1868. Chocolate had never been heard of in Spain until Christopher Columbus brought back cocoa beans to Spain. Spanish friars made the chocolate into a frothy drink that quickly became popular.
The first chocolate was a bitter, somewhat chocolate-tasting drink made from the cocao bean. It was created by the Mayans and Aztecs. it was an expensive liquid, only to be purchased by the very rich citizens and leaders in the society. To make the drink, the bean, when ready is finely grounded into powder, and then water is added, and sometimes other ingredients. When the European settlers came, the obtained the recipe, after tasting how delicious it was. Wen the bean and recipe were brought back to Europe, a vital ingredient in the evolution of chocolate was added:sugar. Then, in about the 3rd quarter of the 1600's, the first chocolate shoppe (with very modern-like chocolate) was opened in London, England. So in the end, the first modern-like chocolate was created around the 1600's, or before. But the first, rudimentary form of chocolate was back in Aztec/Mayan reign era.

The first time Europeans were introduced to chocolate was in the 1500s (learning in the Central/South America) thanks to the Spanish explorers! Hope this helps! :)
The first to enjoy chocolate were the natives to where it was grown (Central / South America), and then the wealthy Europeans who could afford the then-very-expensive chocolates in the 1400s.
The Aztecs drank a chocolate drink and when the Europeans came into Mexico and South America they discovered chocolate and took it back to Europe.
Chocolate was first used by the Aztecs and when the Europeans came back to the New World they brought chocolate back with them. At first it was only used as a drink, but in 1830 it was made into candy.
When Europeans first started exploring the Americas, they discovered that the Mayans and Aztecs already were consuming chocolate, as a drink. They had been consuming chocolate since about 2,000 years ago. The Europeans took the chocolate to Europe, and it went on from there. So this would have been from the late 1400s on. Chocolate comes from the cacao tree, which is indigenous to the Americas. So the ancient peoples of Central and South America first discovered and used cocoa and chocolate, not the Egyptians.

Spain and Andorra are the only Spanish-speaking countries in Europe, but many Europeans are learning the language or can speak it also. However, English remains the dominant first non-native language that most Europeans learn.
