Robert Hooke discovered cells. He took microscopy as a hobby and used to view various specimen under his microscope. Once, he made a thin slice of cork and observed it under the microscope. Since corks are made from the oak trees, they were made up of cells. Hooke observed numerous tiny compartments and called them "cells".
The cell theory , that all plants & animals are composed of cells & that cell is the basic unit of life , was presented by two biologists , Schleiden (1838) and Schwann (1839).It was further explained by Virchow (1855) by suggesting that all cells arise from pre-existing cells.
Robert Hooke coined the word "cell" after examining a slice of cork through a microscope. He published his descriptions in 1665 in the book Micrographia.

Of course they do. Scientists believe anything that they think is true.
Three German scientists. Matthias Schleiden, Theodor Schwann and Rudolph Virchow.

There are no women scientists associated with cell theory because the boys are being sexist.

For their own benefits.

It is a theory, therefore it was not discovered. It was thought up by scientists and philosophers.
The Big Crunch Theory was not discovered by anyone. It was a theory proposed by many scientists as it does not have one person responsible for it's creation.

Before the cell theory it was pre-renaissance. The renaissance was the boom of art and science. So, before the cell theory was religion.
