This would be the Vikings.

The Vikings were a group of European tribes from the Scandinavian areas of Europe. They accidentally stumbled upon North America while sailing around the island of Greenland in 986AD.

They visited briefly but, as far as we know, they did not settle there. At least no archaeological remains of Vikings have been found in North America at this time.
