== Car insurance== As always, a lot of it depends on your aunt's auto insurance. But unless your aunt has a very restrictive policy, there's a good chance that her insurance will pay for the damages to your mom's van. Insurance typically follows the vehicle. In this case, your aunt totaled your mom's van while obviously driving with permission (since your mom was in the van at the time of the accident and assuming your aunt hadn't kidnapped your mom :). If your aunt was liable for any property damage in the accident -- for instance, she hit another vehicle -- your mom's policy would take care of that since she has liability coverage. But without full coverage, where does that leave the totaled van? Most likely, your aunt's insurance carrier will review the loss and deem your mom's van a "non-owned vehicle." They will rule out any other applicable coverage (ie, collision coverage on your mom's policy) and -- again, most likely -- consider themselves primary for the damages to the van. One possible problem: If your mom and aunt live in the same residence, they would be considered "family members" under your aunt's policy and it's very unlikely your aunt's carrier would cover the van's damages. This is because an exposure exists when people live together that should be reported to the carrier so that the carrier can rate the policy appropriately. Most auto policies exclude coverage for vehicles not on the policy, but owned by a "family member." (Don't be confused by the term "family member"; certainly, your aunt and mom are members of the same family, but for insurance purposes, it usually means living in the same residence). Another possible problem: Your aunt's policy may be very specific about providing coverage only for her vehicles. Some policies won't even cover you when you're in a rental vehicle. So, you're best bet is to have your aunt make a claim with her insurance carrier, the sooner the better. Investigations for this type of loss can take a while, since two insurance companies are involved (and, believe me, insurance companies aren't always the greatest about communicating with one another). If your aunt gets an automatic denial for coverage on your mom's van, tell her not to stop there. She should request a copy of her policy, the specific language, and an explanation from her claim adjuster and, if necessary, that adjuster's supervisor. I mention this only because this loss falls under the "tricky" category, and you don't want inexperience on an adjuster's part misleading your aunt. Good luck!

If you were cited then you need to appear, if you have coverage on another vehicle then you should bring that proof with you as you should be technically covered for driving another persons vehicle.

Who gets the no insurance ticket for driving another persons car?

Ultimately, the driver is responsible for everything that happens while the vehicle is moving. The DRIVER is supposed to verify that the vehicle he is driving has insurance. I have been in this position, as the owner of the vehicle. And trust me it is the owner that gets the huge fine.

Can you drive a car with no insurance under your insurance?

Yes, it can cover you depending on the reason you were driving another persons vehicle.Remember that auto insurance follows the legal liabilities of the named insured. If you were driving another persons vehicle under the "replacement vehicle rules" then yes your liabilities should be covered under your own auto insurance policy.A replacement vehicle is typically defined as a borrowed or rented vehicle that one is driving because their own vehicle is under repair, broken down or otherwise unavailable to you at the time.If you were just driving your friends car for the fun of it then you should contact your insurance agent for coverage advice.

Who is responsible if a 16-year-old driving someone else's car hit and severely damaged your vehicle which was legally parked?

It depends.... If the girl that hit your car has car insurance that covers her while driving another persons vehicle, go after her and her insurance company. But if not, go after the owner of the vehicle, they are responsible for the vehicle at all times. The insurance company doesnt care who is driving.

If you need to get personally insured so you can practice driving in another persons car to take the driving test what do you do to do that?

Does your insurance policy follow you if driving someone elses car?

No, in the state of Mass where i am from, the insurance is covered for your car only. It will not follow you if you choose to drive another vehicle. You may want to check the state your are in if this is different, as they may have a different type of policy you can purchase that will cover you. With my experience, the only insurance you have is your health insurance if you are driving another persons vehicle.

Are there policies or companies that cover anyone driving your vehicle?

If you have insurance on your car, and someone else is driving it, and has an accident your insurance rate will go up but it will cover the damages to the other persons vehicle.

If you have liability insurance on one vehicle are you insured if you drive another vehicle?

Auto insurance typically covers the car, not the driver. So, if you have insurance on your vehicle, but you drive another vehicle that doesn't have insurance, you are not protected by your policy if you have an accident in that other vehicle. However, if you have insurance on your vehicle, and you lend it to a driver (from another household) who does not have his or her own insurance, they will be covered by your policy while they are driving your car.

Whose auto insurance will cover me if I am driving another person's car with a temporary license?

Auto insurance follows the vehicle so the policy that is covering the vehicle you are driving will provide the coverage.
