You either have a bad battery, or your alternator is bad. What is the age of the battery? Most last about two years. I would put a trickle charger on the battery for 24 hours, then see if your battery has charged. If not the battery is bad, and need replacement. If it does, you need to replace the alternator. When I had to have my Cub worked on, the local JOHN DEERe dealer did the work. They should be able to help. Jason Check this sight for how to test charging system: http://bit.ly/15nV9m dbost
i have a cub cadet lt 1018 just put a new battery in and then using it in one day next couple of days it wont crank up whats wrong?
There are two common reasons for this. The first is that your generator(alternator) is not charging properly. The second is that your battery is going bad and not holding charge. If it is driving okay once it is jump started then your generator is probabably good and the battery needs to be replaced. I am betting the battery is going bad bc of a bad cell in it. Replace it and I bet it will be fine. A battery can fail with no warning whatsoever. It is more common that one might think. Hope this helps. Good luck.
then you wash your hands, just dont put them near fire and your okay.
disconnect the battery for a few minutes, reconnect and start it. if there is no problem, the light will stay off

A slow crank on start up is typically a sign of a weak or bad battery. Have your battery tested at a local auto parts store and replaced it if it is determined to be bad. Cold weather can also cause an engine to crank slowly. If the engine consistently starts when cold, even if it cranks slowly, you should be fine, however, you may want to eventually get a battery with more cold cranking amps (CCA).
Starter motor going bad. The starter motor is the first electrical device inline from the battery.
Clean your battery terminals.
just a small side post 500 cold crank amps should be just fine for the 3100.
