because you have a baby, and you want to make sure everything is going well so when you give birth to the baby, the baby will be healthy - To check blood pressure,urine for sugar and protein and make sure the baby is developing and growing as expected. It is very important to have check ups as pregnancy can be a problem healthwise for some women. There is a condition known as pre-eclampsia which can kill mother and baby symptoms are high blood pressure and protein in the urine.This can be treated so it is very important to see your Dr as you may not know theres anything wrong.Some women have gestational Diabetes which can make the baby grow bigger than normal,the signs of this can be sugar in the urine. Also with modern inventions Drs can tell if you are having more than one baby which allows them and you to be prepared.

∙ 13y agoIt is important to go to an OBGYN during pregnancy, to make sure that both the mother and baby are healthy, and that neither is having any problems.
Also, reasons to see a doctor during pregnancy:
A) If the mother does not know when she conceived, doctors can tell her how far along in pregnancy she is.
B) Home pregnancy tests can give false results if not taken properly. Doctors can confirm if a woman is indeed pregnant.
C) Doctors need to make sure that the baby has enough amniotic fluid,etc.
D) They need to find out if a baby is growing like it should.
E)Later on in pregnancy, they need to now if the baby is in the right position to be born.
Women should always contact an OBGYN( Obstetrician/Gynecologist) the second they get a positive pregnancy result.
