Wireless transfer uses radio signals and is always slower than wired transfer.
When you use cable, the application (say a router) has the entire cable to itself - other applications (say a stereo) will use a different cable, and the signals in different cables do not interfere with each other.
When sending through air, the application must share the air space with radio, television, cell phones, other wireless routers (where I live there is about a dozen WiFi networks within range) and electronic noise from fridges, microwave ovens and whatnot.

The net effect is that a wireless transmission can only use a tiny slice of the radio spectrum to avoid collision with everything else that is also using radio waves.
A cable transmission, on the other hand, can use almost the entire spectrum without worrying about collision with signals in other cables.

So cable transmissions will always have an edge in bandwidth: Whatever scheme is invented to stuff more data into less wireless spectrum could equally well be used for cable transmissions, and cable has more available spectrum to begin with.

How is a wifi network different than a wired LAN network?

A WiFi network and a LAN network differ from each other. The biggest difference is that a WiFi network is run through a wireless connection., whereas a LAN network is run through cable.

Which port can connect you to the internet through a telephone line?

A modem uses the phone line to connect to the internet. This is usually slower than a wifi connection.

How can you get a better game connection?

wired internet is a bit faster than wireless internet, and of course upgrading your internet speed and Gigabytes a month would make it way faster.

Is wifi better or wired?

"Better" depends on subject. WiFi is definitely better in terms of mobility. One is not restricted to the confines of the area that and ethernet cable can reach. On the other hand, wired can give much better speed and dependability than wireless. It also provides better security.

How do you add more than one wifi connection on a playstation 3?

You replace the original WiFi connection information with new connection information.

How doesWi-Fi change the way you do things?

I doesn't really change the way you do things. The majority of Wi-Fi is somewhat slower than a wired connection and I also easier to hack into.

Does being connected to the internet update games faster on PS3?

Yes and having a wired connection works even faster than WiFi, but it does seem to take a while to perform all the updates on some games

Can you connect wireless to the internet with a PDA other than WiFi?

Bluetooth and WiFi are the two most dominant wireless technologies to choose from for personal connection. (I'll assume you PDA is not a cellular phone) If you don't want to use WiFi, then Bluetooth is really your only option. You can setup your Computer which also must have Bluetooth as a Bluetooth modem. You can then connect from your PDA to your Computer via the Bluetooth connection and to the internet. This however will be significantly slower than WiFi and the distance you can travel form your computer will be short.

Is wireless slower than wired if it comes from the same router from the same adsl connection?

Normally, yes.The max speed of the most common wireless standard, 802.11g, is about 54 Mbps while the router will support wired transfer speeds of 100 Mbps or 1000 Mbps (Gigabit network).Your internet connection is slower than either of those, broadband internet is in the range 1-10 Mbps, so you won't notice if you use the wireless just for browsing. The speed difference between wired and wireless is definitely noticeable when you copy files between two computers on the local network.

What type of connection allows for the fastest transfer of data network or ethernet?

An wired connection is always faster than a wireless connection.

Can you text on and iPod 5 without wifi?

No. There is no other form of connection to the internet from the iPod Touch other than WiFi.

What exactly is satellite internet and how do i get it?

Satellite internet access works by bouncing internet signals off of satellites as a part of their route to wherever the information is held. Unfortunately due to the distance the signal has to travel it can be slower than a usual wired connection. You can get this type of connection through companies such as Hughesnet.
