It's hard to generalize, but the way I see it are these:
-education; not too many can afford tertiary education
-population; there's just too many people, and you will notice it is the poorer families who have more children than those who are well off.
-employment; wage is so low. also, not enough employment for so many people
-government; corruption is ingrained on all levels,
-language barrier (remember the tower of babel?); even today, many people from the provinces cannot speak the national language. but worst of all are the..
-people's attitude;
=crab mentality
=colonial mentality (everything from abroad esp. the west, is a WOW!),
=heavy reliance on parent's (many still reside with theirs even if they have their own family)
=lawlessness (traffic signs are merely suggestions)
=originality is lacking (simply imitating or just making a local version of an int'l hit)
=unwise spending (ubos biyaya, bukas nakatunganga),
=carousing (as if people are so rich to hold drinking sessions every week!)
=disunity and regionalism
"Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo" by Jose Rizal are important literary works that helped shape Filipino national identity and instigated a sense of independence and resistance against Spanish colonization. These novels exposed the injustices and abuses of the Spanish colonial regime, sparking a spirit of nationalism and awakening among Filipinos. They continue to be revered as symbols of Filipino resilience and patriotism.

I think somewhere in May. BTW, Filipinos are not POOR.
because Filipinos did not use their minds.
because corruption is prevailing, and Filipinos have no dedication.
Filipinos are not poor! Why do you choose Philippines out of all places to call 'poor'? There are so many besides Philippines! In fact, there's a lot of parts that are very rich, so shut up!
No. Filipinos are not Americans. They are Filipinos and they come from the Philippines and not in America.
Because they want to explore the world. To expand their horizons and look for a better life. Most of the Philiipines is still quite poor.
Because the United States forced Filipinos to live in designated zones, where poor sanitation, starvation, and disease killed thousands.
Filipinos are Asian.
