Why are the army important?

First off, you need to work on your grammar. "Why are the army important?" is not correct English. You should have said "Why is the Army important?". Excuse me, who are u to correct me?The word army is used singularly in this instance, so you use the word "is." Also, when the Army is referred to as a specific entity, it is capitalized. To answer your question, the Army is important because countries need a land-based force to defend them. If, say, the French (who have an army, a naval force, and an air force) didn't have an army, then the country wouldn't be able to adequately defend itself against its enemies. They would be more easily overpowered by a land based attack than if it had an army.
