The bark, twigs, leaves of the avocado tree, and the skin and pit of the avocado fruit contain a toxin called persin. The fruit of the avocado may absorb some of this toxin from the pit or skin.
Yes they can. The avocado is very poisonous to birds when being digesting by birds especially when it is the pit or the skin.DO NOT FEED THEM TO BIRDS!
the bad kind
There are no poisonous parrots.
Two human foods that are toxic to parrots are avocados and chocolate. Avocados are known to cause heart failure and chocolate attacks the parrot's central nervous system
They are not poisonous but they are not recommended either
Type your answer here... sunflower and pumpkin
Yes, all parrots can eat bananas, even Lovebirds, Cockatiels, etc. They can't eat avocados, chocolate, and poinsettas. Beware! Bananas will kill your Lovebird!
They have hooked beaks to eat hard shelled nuts. They also eat clay to detoxify the poisons that are in their body from poisonous nuts. Parrots can see UV light to determine how ripe a fruit is, and to find a mate.
I have a Quaker parrots and she is about 9 weeks old and I have done some intense reading on parrots and what they eat. Parrots love their fruit but be careful not to feed them any seeds of fruit or vegetables...they love green vegetables as well. As for seeds I give my Quaker budgie seeds everyday and only feed her sunflower and pumpkin seeds as a treat once a week because it's high in fat so it shouldn't be given too much. Strictly no CHOCOLATE OR AVO. This is highly toxic to all parrots My Quaker doesn't like apple much but she loves seedless grapes but every parrot has their own likes so try out everything and they will choose Hope this helps Mishkaah
Avocados grown from seed may not produce fruits. So gardeners will graft from avocados that are known producers.
