And depending on those genes a duckling can be yellow, Yellow with brown or mostly brown.

Not all baby ducks are yellow. When a duckling is yellow it means that when the duck is older it will be white.

Not all ducklings hatch yellow. Ducklings that hatch yellow will be white when they are older, except for mallards(wild ducks) their yellow turns to a tan/light brown color.
