cells are the structural and functional unit of life and the smallest entity of living beings as they are specialized in eukaryote to do special functions and which combine to form tissue and then organ which finally make organism. so cells are smaller unit of life.

Cells are small because if they were bigger it would take to long for nutrients, such as sodium and potassium, to get to the center of the cell. It would also take to long to remove the waste.

All matter is made up of atoms. Atoms are microscopic. Cells do not need to be seen to do their very important functions; they cannot be seen by the naked eye, but can be seen microscopically. Alike cells can then form tissues and organs--these can be seen with the naked eye, and the structure and cells in tissue and organs can also be seen microscopically. When you study "a cell" and realize how many functions it does, it's amazing to think about how teeny tiny the cell actually is!

Why is a microscope needed to view cells?

Because cells are too small to be seen by the human eye so people need a super magnifier to see them. Cells are microscopic.

Why cells have limits how big or small they can be?

Cells could only hold so much volume. If it is too big or too small the cell will not be able to function or work right.

Why are cells small regardless of the size of the organisim?

Cells are the biological 'building blocks'. They are small, but the way they are arranged is what makes the organism. The same as how Lego blocks are small, but you can create massive structures with them. There is no real reason as to why cells are so small, I suppose. Any organism could be made up of any number of cells, differently sized and arranged for different purposes. Cells are only as big as their function requires them to be.

Why do body cells have to be so small?

Not completely sure, I do know that they divide so they don't get too big.
