Your dad is not mean but maybe his method of discipline is a bit over the top. Your dad is trying to be a good parent and when you have kids of your own you'll see how difficult that actually is. Be a good kid and you might not think anymore that he's mean.
Its just that he cares about you but sometimes he can go abit over protective but you just need to explain that too him.

Example of happy: You could be yelling about a person chasing you.
Example of angry: Could have a parent send you to your room. ( I'm 10)

∙ 13y agoAnyone can yell. Parents yell more because they are supposed to teach their kids. They have to teach their kids what is wrong and what is right, and the way they do that is yelling and punishing. It may be a bit harsh, but parents usually do it. If you're wondering why they can't just tell you calmly instead of yelling, yelling puts a bit more pressure on people so there would be a better chance of them doing what they say.
