The ability to make eye contact while speaking, to appear attentive while the other person is talking, not to interupt, speak in complete sentences, talk in a clear voice at the appropriate volume, and not sound bored, arrogant or monotone, not changing the topic too flippantly, seem focused on the content of the conversation , get to the point without dragging it out too long and think before you speak; all of those are important to be a good communicator.

Most of the people leave off their practice of expressing in writing by a terrible fear. They assume that because they weren't writing perfectly, they shouldn't write it at all.

This habit often stems from the public school where many are discouraged by the words, 'if you can't write, then stop trying to write something that you cannot express'. These ideas created personal obstacles just because they feared how others would react to the errors within their writing. As a result, they also put some major obstacles into their process of learning.

Importance of good writing skills
  • The effects of good writing are cumulative and mastering writing skills will improve your performance in other activities.
  • There might not be an immediate reward for good writingbut when you can communicate clearly in the written word, you won't face.
  • With a developed writing skill, you will learn faster just because it makes it much easier to study when you can write something in your own words.

It won't be perfect the first time

  • Your writing doesn't have to be perfect but if you start a process of reading or observing, and then writing your understanding of this experience, the process of writing delivers a cognitive effect that is much more effective than rote memorization.
  • What you express in a rough draft will be a basic structure and to write more effectively, you would commit to the process and improve your expression.
  • However, you will know that if 20 or 30 hours with this idea, you will have a product with about 15 sources, after you reinterpreted the question, determined your expressive goals, researched ideas, and expressed what you have learned.
  • Such a process would take a few sessions because it involves a process thinking about the issue, expressing what you think now, and then improving the subject later.
  • The better you are able to improve this process--writing, review, editing--the more effective your work will be in places that require expression.
  • The more you write, the more you will improve the outcome of your learning and the more you will be able to leave an impression on others through your expression.
