The human species is driven by the reproduction process. We tend to want to do what would be best for our offspring. Women tend to seek a man (spouse, companion, provider... whatever) that can provide for her children. If he can provide a better life and a better chance of survival, she tends to be attracted to him. Larger, stronger men are more "attractive" (in general) than weaker, smaller men. Some women seem to want aggressive men, evidently under the misguided belief that he will be able to successfully accomodate the needs of her offspring.

Men tend to be attracted to women who can make babies and provide for their physical needs. A certain ratio between hips and waist has been shown to be more appealing to men and appears to be a very basic indicator of fertility. Breast size assures the man that his children will be properly fed.

But these are examples of the needs of the human species from decades ago. As a species we have (hopefully) progressed to a point that we don't need to focus on those attributes. The problem is, they are all a part of the programming.

Why ARE women still attracted to the "bad boy"? It's almost a certainty that the bad boys will not be a decent companion nor will he be able to help with the children. Any relationship with a "bad boy" will just provide some temporary excitement, sort of like a free fall at an amusement park ride. But the problem with the bad boy is, the free fall doesn't end up in a soft landing.

Part of the fascination with breasts seems to be milk for the young, but part of it is the fact that they are hidden. Everybody wants the cookies that mom puts in the cookie jar, out of reach.

Human dynamics are complex. Men tend to be attracted to the physical attributes because that has been a moderately good way to determine if a woman is able to bear children. Women are drawn to power, money and in some cases, the bad boy. If you think about it, none of that makes sense.

The only thing that separates humans from the animals is our intellectual ability. Relationships are boring and tend to be stagnant if there is no intellectual stimulation. Eventually, we want to have our intellect challanged.
